CCBC and Partners-At the Forefront of the Regions Road to Sustainability

     The Community College of Beaver County will host the second annual “The Road to Sustainability II: Implementing Sustainable Strategies,” conference on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 8:30am-3:00pm, at the CCBC Athletics & Events Center, 1 Campus Drive, Monaca, PA.


     CCBC initiated the regional green movement by hosting the first-of-its-kind conference in the Pittsburgh region “The Road to Sustainability”. To capitalize on the momentum created at that first conference, CCBC, in partnership with Sustainable Pittsburgh, developed a green action format that addresses the sustainability issues facing Western Pennsylvania businesses. The 2010 conference advances the green movement to the next level as it aims at providing information to businesses and organizations on what companies will actually need to implement the strategies to be an eco-friendly business as well as courses available to get the current workforce trained in the proper certifications to implement green work compliance. Vendors will display products available to move any business to the energy and sustainable efficiency levels.

     The Conference “green expert” presenters will give first-hand information about “how to” implement a sustainable plan, what products to use and how to capture the return on the investment of going green. New construction, renovation, energy audits, funding resources and other avenues are included in this regional event.      CCBC offers sustainable courses through business partnerships as well as certificate programs pertinent to current sustainable practices. Following the conference, CCBC’s Workforce Development will be offering more in depth workshops and classes. Some of these will include Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, (LEED) Green Awareness, LEED Accredited Professional (AP) classes and CBT Indoor Air Quality certification classes Sustainable Mechanical System, and other offerings.
